When Lukáš Krčil and Roman Zámečnický, founders of the startup Hedepy, approached us with a request to help develop a project missing from the Czech market—and one that society desperately needed—we were excited to dive in. Within a month, we built a working prototype, and just three months later, we delivered a fully functional product that secured 8 million CZK in investments.
How do you deal with the challenges that weigh on you? There’s nothing unusual about seeking help from a therapist—quite the opposite. During the difficult times of COVID-19, as depression and anxiety disorders surged due to lockdowns, we introduced a solution that made therapeutic support accessible to everyone with just a few clicks.
On Hedepy, qualified therapists can actively offer and conduct their online sessions. From the very first version of the platform, it was clear that this project had international potential. Before long, we rolled out Italian, Polish, and Romanian versions. For this expansion, we leveraged a microservices architecture and Kubernetes for seamless scaling and rapid growth. Our optimization strategy ensured zero downtime, even when launching new language versions.
We built the platform’s administration on our custom Headless CMS, simplifying account management, content updates, pricing, and therapist payments. The increasing demand and rapid growth soon called for automation. Shortly after launch, we automated key processes like invoicing, reporting, accounting, and marketing—setting up N8N for basic mailing automation.
One of the biggest challenges was developing an integrated video conferencing feature directly within the app. This ensured users could stay in one place while therapists could automatically offer follow-up sessions right after completing their consultations. We achieved this using Twilio’s WebRTC video technology, optimizing it for all major browsers, including mobile devices.
We also developed a custom calendar for therapists, allowing them to offer available slots, schedule recurring sessions, and manage bookings across global time zones. Clients, in turn, can easily book consultations directly through the platform. Combined with our agile development approach, these features gave Hedepy a strong advantage over competitors in the Czech market—and set the stage for successful international expansion.
Today, Hedepy is a market leader in the Czech Republic and continues to expand into new territories.
